On a Monday morning in mid-October 2026, employees at Microsoft's Africa Development Centre (ADC) in Nairobi were summoned to a meeting and told the news: the engineering centre is being shut down, or at least gutted. Staff have reportedly been asked to meet with managers by Friday, October 16 to discuss their exits, including severance terms. One employee told TechCabal: "Our case is sealed; we just didn't know when."
